Community Work Opportunities Van Fire
Community Work Opportunities suffered a severe property accident on Saturday 8/25/07, involving six vehicles. Six vehicles were destroyed by a fire resulting from a power line which came down during a severe storm. Luckily no one was in the vehicles when this occurred. The persons who benefit from these vehicles are emotional impaired, have several chronic medical conditions, severely physically and mentally handicapped. There are (60) persons individual lives that had been enriched by the usage of these six vehicles, three of which had specialized equipment. This specialized equipment allowed these persons to participate in the community. Each of these vehicles were used five days a week, every week of the year.
Due to this loss we are not sure how we will get the persons we serve to the various community activities and job sites. We are taking emergency measures to ensure as little disruption as possible to live of the involved individuals. We are a non-profit agency with little or no means of replacing these vehicles, if you or someone you know would like to help with a monetary or otherwise donation; please feel free to donate now.
